The cardiac catheterization cardiologists with Norton Children’s Heart Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, use the newest catheter and device technologies to provide advanced diagnoses and treatment. We are the only program in Kentucky to offer to replace poorly functioning pulmonary valves.
Some newborns have the best outcomes when treated simultaneously by a catheterization cardiologist and congenital heart surgeon. The main cardiac catheterization laboratory at Norton Children’s Hospital is a “hybrid suite” to allow for these procedures. Treatments performed this way can lead to faster recovery times, less tissue damage and reduced scarring.
