Norton Children’s Heart Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, conducts pediatric heart diagnostic tests at 28 locations around Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
These tele-echocardiogram locations send your child’s data electronically to the board-certified pediatric cardiologists in Louisville, who immediately interpret the data to make a diagnosis.
There are many different kinds of echocardiograms, but all use ultrasound. The noninvasive procedure makes pictures of your child’s heart to show blood flow and the heart’s structure.
Our tele-echocardiogram program started in 1992. Norton Children’s pediatric cardiologists interpret more than 7,000 echocardiograms each year. About 3,300 of them are tele-echocardiograms.
Tests available at the tele-echocardiogram sites include fetal echocardiograms and pediatric transthoracic echocardiograms.
If your child needs ongoing care, pediatric cardiologists are available at Norton Children’s Heart Institute locations in Louisville, or at one of our 15 outreach clinics, including four Norton Children’s Hospital Outpatient Centers in Bowling Green, Frankfort, Owensboro and Paducah, Kentucky.
