A brain or spinal tumor diagnosis affects the entire family. Care doesn’t end when treatment ends. That’s why the Norton Children’s Brain & Spinal Tumor Program provides support to patients and their families during treatment and through recovery.
The Brain & Spinal Tumor Program is a collaboration of Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute and Norton Children’s Cancer Institute, both affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine.
Patients can take advantage of extensive services, including educational, physical and emotional support.
Because some patients may experience effects after treatment, such as lost motor skill or muscle strength, rehabilitation may be needed for an extended period of time. Our pediatric rehabilitation specialists provide physical, occupational and speech therapy to inpatients and outpatients. Our licensed therapists evaluate and treat infants through young adults with a wide range of diagnoses.
Our experienced neuropsychologists and specialists conduct a thorough medical examination, including assessing muscle strength, movement, balance, speech, memory, and nerve function in the head and neck using advanced diagnostic techniques. Based on this information, our team and others on the child’s medical team will determine a care plan that meets the child’s unique needs.
Located at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital in St. Matthews, Norton Specialty Pharmacy provides patients with convenient access to specialized prescriptions, as well as expertise in these medications, an on-call pharmacist for clinical and medication support, and integrated support programs.
