Norton Children’s Cancer Institute Resource Center

When your child receives a cancer diagnosis, your world changes in an instant. At Norton Children’s Cancer Institute, we know this journey affects every member of your family, and you don’t have to face it alone.

The Norton Children’s Cancer Institute Resource Center was created to surround your family with compassionate support at every step of your child’s cancer journey. Located inside the Novak Center for Children’s Health on the eighth floor, the center brings together many of the services families need, all in one welcoming space.

Our team understands that caring for a child with cancer goes far beyond medical treatment. At the Norton Children’s Cancer Institute Resource Center, we’re here to help you navigate the stress, uncertainty and daily challenges that come with a childhood cancer diagnosis – with compassion and personalized support.

Financial guidance and assistance

Understanding the financial side of care can feel overwhelming. Our financial navigators are here to help your family by:

  • Explaining insurance coverage and benefits
  • Identifying financial aid programs
  • Connecting you to assistance for treatment-related costs

Care coordination and continuity

You will never need to figure out the next step alone. Our team of nurses and social workers help you:

  • Communicate and stay connected across your child’s care team through a dedicated nurse navigator
  • Receive timely updates and answers to questions
  • Connect with community support organizations
  • Schedule travel and lodging for appointments and hospital stays
  • Access resources for housing, utilities, childcare, food, and other needs your family may have

Educational support for patients

School looks different for every child during cancer treatment. Some students stay engaged during care, while others may need time away while healing. Our educational team provides guidance, regardless of your child’s needs:

Mental health and emotional wellness

Cancer affects the emotional well-being of the entire family: the patient, siblings and caregivers. Our psychosocial specialists offer:

  • Counseling for children, teens, siblings and parents
  • Support with coping skills, anxiety, grief and stress
  • Access to support groups that foster connection and shared understanding

Creative expression and therapeutic support

Children express themselves in many ways. Our complementary therapy services help patients cope, find comfort and explore emotions safely:

  • Art therapy
  • Massage therapy to support relaxation and comfort
  • Child life services to promote play, expression and emotional support

A healing space for the entire family

The Norton Children’s Cancer Institute Resource Center provides families with a dedicated space to access the support they need, when they need it most. Our goal is to make an overwhelming time feel more manageable by offering supportive care for the whole family, alongside leading medical treatment for your child.
