Pregnant or planning?

Norton Healthcare and Norton Children’s offer high-quality care for you and your baby.

Though there won’t be any trick-or-treating, babies at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are ready for their first Halloween. Infants showed off their little costumes in front of family and friends.

“Dressing babies in Halloween costumes — under the watchful eye of medical personnel — gives parents a chance to celebrate their babies, as well as feel like they’re part of the outside world,” said Mary Jean Precious, R.N., NICU nurse manager.

“Any opportunity to be a ‘normal’ family is a welcome break from the beeping of equipment and routine of the hospital,” she said.

The costumes are provided by families or the NICU, and some are made by hospital employees and volunteers.
