When you see Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner organizations in Southern Indiana raising funds, they’re now supporting your local children’s hospital: Norton Children’s Hospital. For years, the funds raised in Southern Indiana were sent to Indianapolis.

“We’re excited to be able to work with groups in Southern Indiana to keep funds local — funds that benefit the care our community’s children need,” said Lynnie Meyer, Ed.D., R.N., CFRE, senior vice president and chief development officer, Norton Healthcare. “Norton Children’s is dedicated to providing excellent care close to home for patients and families in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Perry and Washington counties in Indiana. Providing this care requires support from the entire community.”

Organizations involved in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising include DQ, IHOP, Panda Express, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Speedway, Rite Aid and Re/Max.

“These organizations hold various fundraising events throughout the year,” Meyer said. “They may sell hot air balloon icons, collect change or hold special events such as Miracle Treat Day and National Pancake Day.”

A large number of schools also hold Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraisers and dance marathons across Southern Indiana. These now will benefit Norton Children’s as well.

For more than a century, Norton Children’s has cared for Southern Indiana and Kentucky children without regard to their families’ ability to pay. The need for expert pediatric care has grown, which means so too must the specialized care provided at Norton Children’s.

Funds raised through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partners will go to the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation, which raises millions of dollars for Norton Children’s Hospital, Kentucky and Southern Indiana’s only full-service, free-standing pediatric hospital, to support programs, equipment and facilities, research, advocacy and education. In 2021, the community provided around $14 million in donations, which allowed the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation to fund millions of dollars in projects to drive innovation and support more than 185,000 children who visit annually from throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Since 2004, the foundation has granted more than $187 million in support of Norton Children’s.

Norton Children’s cares for Indiana’s kids:

  • Approximately 24,000 children from Southern Indiana come to Norton Children’s for care each year.
  • Nearly 275 critically ill and premature infants from Indiana need specialized care each year in a Norton Children’s neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Nearly 4,400 children from Indiana need emergency care at a Norton Children’s facility.
  • A growing number of children from Indiana — well over 1,200 — seek care from the team of heart specialists at Norton Children’s Heart Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine.
