Our Norton Children’s teams are working closely with national, state and local health agencies to protect and care for our patients, families and staff. As part of our standard infection prevention procedures, we have policies and strategies in place to identify, treat and limit the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in our community. The personal safety and well-being of our patients, families, staff, visitors, donors, volunteers and community are central to the mission of Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle will continue as scheduled and all prizes will be awarded as stated in the raffle rules and on the raffle website. If necessary, our drawings may not be open to the public as they have been in the past.

Has the giveaway been canceled?

No, but out of an abundance of caution, we are working with our local partners and sponsors to make changes to all public events related to the raffle. Open house tours of the Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle house are postponed until further notice for your personal safety and well-being. The giveaway date for the house and BMW is still scheduled for Nov. 21, 2020. The winner(s) will be posted on the raffle Facebook page and announced on WAVE3 News.

 

Will the house and other prizes still be given away?

Yes. Our sponsors are still committed to the mission of Norton Children’s Hospital.

Can I still purchase tickets?

Tickets will be available for the raffle until it sells out, or until the deadlines of Nov. 19, 2020, at noon online, and Nov. 20, 2020, at noon by calling (502) 629-8060. Only 12,000 tickets will be sold.

 

How can I confirm that my ticket purchase was received?

The best way to receive confirmation is to provide your email address when you purchase your ticket. The confirmation should be sent to your email within a few hours (please check junk and spam folders). If you do not provide an email address, allow two to three weeks for us to process your ticket purchase and send a physical confirmation notice by mail. You also are always welcome to call Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation at (502) 629-8060. Leave a message and we will call you back.

 

Can I still enter the open house giveaway?

In the past, a prize was available to visitors at Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle open houses with no purchase necessary. Open houses currently are suspended until further notice in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This prize giveaway will be available only if we are able to resume open house visits.


How much are the raffle tickets?

Tickets are $100 each.


How many tickets can I get?

There is no limit.


What does my ticket make me eligible for?

Your ticket makes you eligible for all the prizes whose deadline hasn’t passed. The earlier you buy your ticket, the more prizes you’re eligible for.


If I win one of the other prizes, can I also win the home or the BMW?

Yes! Early-bird winners are eligible for all subsequent drawings, including the grand prize of a new home in Norton Commons and the first prize of a BMW plus $10,000 cash.


Who is eligible to get raffle tickets and win?

To participate in the raffle and to win any prize, you must be a U.S. resident and age 18 or older. If more than one name appears on an entry, the prize will be awarded to the first person listed on the entry who is at least age 18 and a U.S. resident. It is the sole responsibility of the winner in a multiple-party entry to allocate any prize among the participants in that entry. IRS Form 5754 must be completed if the winnings are being shared by two or more persons. The information provided on Form 5754 will enable Norton Healthcare (the payer) to prepare a Form W-2G for each individual listed on Form 5754. Employees of Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation and members of their immediate family* are not eligible to participate in the raffle.

“Immediate family” means:
• Spouse and parents-in-law
• Parents and grandparents
• Children and their spouses
• Siblings and their spouses


What are the odds of winning?

Odds of winning a prize are dependent on the available tickets for sale. Ticket sales are limited to 12,000. All tickets have an equal chance to win a prize.


How long will it take to get my receipt?

If you provide an email address, within two weeks you will receive an emailed copy of your ticket that you can print for your records. You will not receive a ticket in the mail. If you do not provide an email address, you will receive a ticket by mail in 10 to 14 business days. The emailed copy is the same as the mailed one, but will arrive sooner. As always, you may call Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation at (502) 629-8060 to verify your purchase and number of tickets.


Do I have to be present to win?

No, you don’t have to be present to win or have your ticket confirmation with you. Winners will be announced by name, not ticket number.


How will I know if I won?

We will call winners immediately after the drawing. If you are a winner, you will be notified in writing with a Winner Notification Packet (“Packet”), which includes a W-9 and Form W2-G. The Packet will be physically delivered to you or sent by certified, return receipt U.S. mail within seven days of the drawing to the address you provided. As a winner, you must claim the prize within 30 days from the date of receipt of the Agreement to indicate your desire to accept the prize and willingness to make necessary arrangements to do so. If you do not wish to claim the prize, but wish to donate it to Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation, you must provide a written statement within the 30-day period stating that you wish to donate the prize back to Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation. If you do not claim the prize or donate it to Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation within the 30 days after being contacted, you shall forfeit the prize. Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation will notify the Kentucky Office of Charitable Gaming and draw another ticket in the presence of Office personnel.


May I claim my ticket as a tax deduction?

Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle tickets are not tax-deductible. The IRS has adopted the position that the $100 ticket price is not deductible as a charitable donation for federal income tax purposes.


What are the taxes on the house and what do I have to do if I win it?

Prize winners are subject to and responsible for all federal, state and local income taxes and any other taxes, tariffs, fees or other amounts levied by governmental entities payable due to acceptance of the prize and the law, regulations, procedures, rules and directives applicable to raffles. All federal, state and local laws relating to the transfer, ownership or use of the prize apply. If you are the winner, the prize shall not be transferred until you have met all legal requirements. As the winner of the house, you must agree that the written determination of a licensed appraiser obtained by Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation will be used to determine the value of the house for income tax and all other purposes. The IRS requires that taxes on prizes valued greater than $5,000 must be paid upon acceptance and before Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation may deliver the prize to the winner. If you are the winner, you are encouraged to consult a tax professional.


How much of the proceeds actually go to Norton Children’s Hospital?

100% of the proceeds from the Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle go to support Norton Children’s Hospital for research, child advocacy, and health education for patients, families, physicians, hospital staff and the community. Thank you for partnering with us for this great cause!
