The kitchen adventures continue as Walker, my 2-year-old son, and I worked to earn our second ChopChop Cooking Club badge – Whisking Wizard.

Last week we became Blender Bosses and had a lot of fun making a smoothie. These first two badges have challenged my family to carve out time to get in the kitchen together and teach Walker that eating healthy is easy and fun!

Becoming a Whisking Wizard

After earning our first badge, Walker and I were ready to become Whisking Wizards, cooking up scrambled eggs and toast. Walker was a natural at cracking an egg; however, the whisking proved difficult.

He was also a pro at toasting and buttering his own bread (whole wheat of course!). His proud smile says it all!

As a nutritionist, I understand the importance of serving homemade, healthy meals, but even I struggle with finding time to cook for my family. To cut down on long prep times and complicated recipes, we have eggs for dinner at least once a week. They are so easy and quick to make — not to mention an affordable protein. And now Walker is a Whisking Wizard ready and willing to help in the kitchen.

Even after just two challenges, I’m often hearing the request, “Can I help?” Having a 2-year-old child wanting to help you in the kitchen is, to say the least, remarkable!

Stay tuned for a recap of our experience as we earn the remaining ChopChop cooking badges!
