Norton Children’s recognized for care in Kentucky

Commonwealth’s General Assembly supports resolution and citation

Kentucky Sen. Julie Raque Adams and Rep. Susan Witten both filed motions in their respective legislative chambers on Feb. 26, 2026, recognizing Norton Children’s for its commitment to caring for children in Kentucky and efforts to expand services with a planned campus in Jeffersontown. Both chambers unanimously supported the motions.

Senate Resolution 123

“Norton Children’s has long been a cornerstone of care, providing critical, compassionate and often lifesaving services to the youngest members of our community,” Sen. Adams said. “We are all aware of the increased demand for these services since the pandemic, and Norton [Children’s] is now taking this feedback and putting it directly into the plans for their new campus. This project is not just a construction plan; it is a community-driven vision for a healthier, stronger future for our children.”

House Citation 47

“Norton [Children’s] provides critical and often lifesaving care to children when they need it most,” Rep. Witten said. “I am truly blessed to have this new campus in my district, and we are all fortunate to have an institution like Norton Children’s serving families across the commonwealth.”

In June 2025, Norton Children’s announced plans for construction of a second dedicated pediatric hospital as part of a new care campus that will serve children with complex medical needs, as well as offer expanded pediatric services and research facilities. As part of the planning process, Norton Children’s began hosting community listening sessions last year and will continue them across Kentucky and Southern Indiana throughout 2026. Community members can find an in-person session or submit ideas online through a survey. “Thank you for recognizing the important role Norton Children’s plays in the health and well-being of children throughout Kentucky and beyond — now and in the future,” said Susan Strack, system vice president, pediatric services, Norton Children’s.
