Sawyer’s Warriors began in 2017 after Lauren and Craig Edwards lost their daughter, Sawyer, at 28 weeks into the pregnancy due to a blood clot. They had faced a miscarriage just one year before. Following those terrible losses, they were finally able to welcome a beautiful little girl, Finley, almost a year to the day of Sawyer’s death. The Edwards family embraced their sweet rainbow baby, and their life as parents, while always remembering their two lost children. From their experience and loss came the desire to help others who may be going through the same heartbreak they endured. In March 2019, Finley was joined by a new baby brother, Barrett.Sawyer’s Warriors raises funds for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Norton Children’s Hospital. More than 1,400 critically ill and premature infants from throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana come to the Norton Children’s Hospital NICU each year.
