Now in its 35th year, the Snow Ball is one of the largest annual fundraisers for Norton Children’s Hospital. This magnificent black-tie event for nearly 1,000 guests is illuminated on all sides with the sparkle of holiday lights, and has become one of the most fashionable holiday parties in Louisville.
An open bar and five-course, gourmet meal precedes dancing to live music provided by Endless Summer Band. A silent auction includes luxury items such as fine dining experiences, jewelry, trips and other packages.
Each year, funds from this event are donated to Norton Children’s area of greatest need. This year’s benefiting area will be the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at Norton Children’s Hospital, Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital and Norton Clark Hospital.
Nearly 2,000 critically ill and premature infants spend the first weeks to months of their lives in a Norton Children’s NICU. The NICU at Norton Children’s Hospital is the seventh largest in the country, with 101 licensed beds. It is the region’s only Level IV NICU, offering the highest level of care available, providing the most high-tech, high-touch care to infants from throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The NICU at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital offers 48 licensed beds, and the NICU at Norton Clark Hospital in Southern Indiana has six beds.
The Norton Children’s Hospital NICU operates at 99% capacity throughout the year, with an average stay of 27 days. The unit serves premature infants and babies with conditions that require advanced care or surgery. For babies born with heart conditions, the hospital also has three dedicated beds in the on-site Jennifer Lawrence Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
The need for care for these infants has never been higher. Funds raised will help provide greater access to high-quality care for all children, and will enhance and expand Norton Children’s facilities and technology to improve care.
