When Richard Stocke found out he won groceries for a year from the 2019 Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle monthly prize drawing last October, he was shocked.
“It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever won,” he said. “It was awesome.”
Richard, who lives in Louisville with his wife, Susie, supports the raffle annually.
“I’ve got seven young grandchildren, and when you have little children in your life, you think about what families go through that need help and assistance when an unfortunate illness or something else happens,” he said.
Richard and his family have used some of the $4,800 in grocery gift cards for Sunday family dinners with their children and grandchildren. They also opted to share some of their winnings with others.
“My wife is a real giver,” Richard said. “When she would notice people in need throughout the year, she would give them some of the Kroger gift cards and help out that way.”
Richard hopes others will join him in supporting this year’s Norton Children’s Hospital Home & BMW Raffle.
“The ticket is only $100,” he said. “A lot of money can be raised just by people choosing to skip a dinner out. Small sacrifices can make a huge difference.”
