Students kindergarten through grade 2

Classes offered Oct. 16 to 27
Registration deadline: Sept. 29

What? Norton Children’s Prevention & Wellness and Safe Kids Louisville coalition are offering a 30-minute “Walk This Way” pedestrian safety class at local schools. The class is designed to be fun, age-appropriate and taught in accordance with the Kentucky Department of Education standards for kindergarten through grade 2. Classes will be offered Oct. 16 to 27.

Why? Motor vehicle traffic is the leading cause of death or disability for pedestrians. Hundreds of children are struck by vehicles every year, and last year several students from Jefferson County schools were injured. Data shows 62 percent of second grade students visiting Safety City are not aware of how to safely cross the street prior to education. Following education, that number decreases to 23 percent, and data shows it still is retained at the end of the school year. Pedestrian injuries are highest in October, with the highest rate of child-related pedestrian injuries around Halloween.

How? Complete the registration below, and we will contact you directly by email or phone to schedule your class(es). Register today, as the number of classes are limited.
