Bourbon & Bowties was established in 2010 and was held in memory of Charles W. Gant, a loving and energetic 8-year-old boy who passed away from viral encephalitis on June 3, 2009. Family and friends established this event to give back to Norton Children’s Hospital for the wonderful care Charles received during his illness, as well as to ensure other children have access to top-notch medical care. The sold-out June 6 event, presented by Northwestern Mutual, is held at Fleur de Lis Farm in Prospect.

Each year, Bourbon & Bowties is held in honor or memory of a Norton Children’s Hospital patient. In this 10th year, the event will celebrate all past nine honorees and remember and honor the late Dean Corbett, former lead chef and host.

A custom-designed bow tie, neck tie and bangle, sponsored by River Road Asset Management, are sold each year at the event. This year’s tie designs feature bourbon, fleur-de-lis and bow tie images, and come in pink, navy blue and red. Bow ties retail for $60 and straight ties for $70, with all proceeds benefiting the hospital. The ties can be purchased in advance at Cartwheels Papers & Gifts on Chenoweth Square, Circe on Brownsboro Road, Fashion Post on Lime Kiln Lane, Prickly Pear Boutique on Main Street in Middletown or Scout on Market Street.

The “Bourbon & Bowties” bangle comes in several different designs. All are gold with natural colored stones and can be purchased in advance at Cartwheels on Chenoweth Square or Something Blue in Norton Commons.
